Can I use Donetick on my own?
Yes. Organize your personal projects, recurring chores, and home maintenance without inviting anyone. You can add tasks, break them into subtasks, set schedules, and track completions on your own.
What is Donetick?
Donetick is an open-source task and chore management app. You can share chores with household members, create recurring schedules, rotate assignments, and see completion history. Use the hosted app or run your own instance.
Can we use it as a couple or with roommates?
Yes. A shared group in Donetick is called a Circle. Invite your partner or housemates to your Circle so you can share tasks and responsibilities. Check the current hosted plans for member limits.
How do recurring chores work?
Set chores to repeat daily, weekly, monthly, or on a custom schedule. You can schedule the next occurrence from the previous due date for a consistent routine, or from the completion date when timing should depend on when the job was done.
Does Donetick automatically take turns?
Yes. Assignment options include round-robin rotation, random assignment, and strategies based on task counts or completions. Choose the people who share a chore and the strategy that fits your household. Taking turns helps clarify responsibility; it does not automatically make different chores equal in effort.
How does someone join my household?
Share your Circle’s invite link or code. Your housemate creates an account or signs in and submits a join request. A Circle administrator then approves the request before they can access the shared household tasks.
Do I need to self-host it?
No. You can create an account on the hosted Donetick app. Self-hosting is an optional route for people who want to manage their own installation.
